Past Convenings

G4GC convenings have been a space for collaboration and to better provide resources to communities. We’ve recorded our past convenings and are sharing them here.

2017 Reimagining Safety: A Converstation About the Movements Centering All Girls of Color
On June 7, 2017, more than 125 funders met for an all-day convening in New York for an urgent conversation about safety and girls of color. At the convening we heard from girls of color most impacted by interpersonal and state violence and how movements are responding. We explored how funders can best support efforts working to create safety. We focused on intersecting safety concerns facing girls of color, as prioritized by those leading movements.
2016 Exploring the Power of Black Girls & Young Women in the United States
More than a hundred funders met in New York City on May 19, 2016 for an all-day meeting exploring how anti-blackness shows up in the lives of black girls, their power and leadership in movements, and how philanthropy can support them. This first convening was designed as a first step toward a new dialogue and movement among funders to chart what’s needed, create opportunities for collaboration, and articulate a shared vision to shift the philanthropic sector.
