The Love is Healing Fund is G4GC’s first grantmaking fund, established in April 2020 to move resources to girls and gender-expansive youth, their families, and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the Love Is Healing Fund has grown to be our largest and most diverse fund, supporting youth who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latina/e, Asian, Arab, Pacific Islander, and/or other people of color.
Funding priorities
Through the Love is Healing Fund, G4GC addressed COVID-19-related advocacy and immediate mapping needs. Other priorities include:
- Building economic pathways for young people including workforce and leadership development.
- Educational responses that ensure girls and gender-expansive youth have access to safe, inclusive, and affirming learning environments.
- Interventions to support systems-impacted youth and those impacted by gender-based violence.
- Preventative or responsive mental, physical and emotional health strategies.
- Efforts led by young people to advance a strong and vibrant multi-racial democracy.
Highlights
$4m
Within the first 8 months of launching our COVID-19 response fund we deployed more than $4 million to more than 120 organizations in 23 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
$12m
To date, Love Is Healing has awarded over $12.2 million to 177 organizations across the country, with over 47% of that amount going to grant renewals to sustain programs and organizations.

In 2022, we hosted a youth retreat in New York City with young people from across the country to deepen their collective identity as philanthropic leaders and to inform our youth engagement strategy.

In 2023 we hosted participatory rounds of grantmaking to award funds to organizations and projects to advance reproductive and climate justice.
