  • William T. Grant Foundationā€™s Research Grants on Reducing Inequality: This program funds research aimed at reducing inequality in academic, social, behavioral, or economic outcomes for U.S. youth ages 5ā€“25. Major grants range from $100,000 to $600,000, while smaller officersā€™ grants provide $25,000 to $50,000. The initiative supports descriptive and intervention studies and offers grantees capacity-building, expert connections, and collaborative learning opportunities. Learn more

  • The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) Pedagogy of Liberation Conference (New York)
  • Join BroSis on January 17 for a deep dive into liberatory teaching methods at Pedagogy of Liberation! This free community event was created to reenergize educators, youth workers, and community practitioners who are passionate about youth development and transformative education. Sessions will include: Arts as Resistance, Culturally Relevant Design, Restorative Justice, Writers Collective, Environmental Justice andTheatre of the Oppressed. Learn more

  • Center for Native American Youth – Remembering Our Sisters Fellowship 
    Each year, a small group of femme-identifying Native youth embark on a collective healing journey in support of our stolen relatives. In 2026, selected applicants will not only create virtual storytelling & digital art pieces that advance the MMIP movement ā€” but will also become part of the larger CNAY Fellowship program, engage in a shared curriculum & convene in community as one.   • Operation Restorationā€™s Operation Girls (New Orleans, LA) 
    Operation Girls (OG) is a program made just for girls ages 11-17 who have been impacted by incarceration. Weā€™re here to give you a safe space to be yourself, connect with others girls and build a strong support system. Attendees can expect weekly ā€œGirl Talkā€ workshops, fitness and wellness classes, financial literacy workshops, mentorship and sisterhood, weekend excursions and more! Learn more
  • Black Girls Smile: In-Person LGBTQ+ Support Group (Brooklyn, NY)
    These gatherings are designed to create a sense of belonging, community, and healing, while exploring the intersection of mental health and lived experience. Their LGBTQ+ Young Adult Support Group is an affirming space for LGBTQ+ young adults to share their experiences and support one another at the intersection of identity and mental health. Learn more

ā€˜Pass the Mic Projectā€™ Highlight Series šŸ“½

G4GCā€™s Pass the Mic Project is a narrative filmmaking project and documentary to amplify the voices of girls and gender-expansive youth of Color in research. Every few weeks, we highlight compelling excerpts from grantee partner interviews on our socials.

Recently, we featured Ana Puente Flores (former CUNY Beyond Identity participant and co-founder of Mazorca Colectiva), who discusses the importance of women and girls of color being in community with one another, and living with purpose or our ā€œsoulā€™s callingā€. āœ¹ Team Accolades āœ¹

G4GCā€™s Maheen Kaleem, Solace Mensah-Narh, Amirah Fauzi, and grantee partners joined the CHANGE Unity Summit in Minneapolis

Solace’s session, Living Data: Mapping Representation and Resourcing of the Nonprofit Sector, featured the launch of a new intersectional equity tool, co-created by members of the Womenā€™s Funding Network that links 990 financial data with Candidā€™s demographics dataset of 77,000+ organizations. Attendees learned how to apply the tool to advance their equity strategies. 

We also hosted a session titled Safety Strategies Rooted in the Wisdom of Youth of Color with grantee partners Young Womenā€™s Freedom Center, Mirror Memoirs, and Transformations.

In a time when communities are being called to reimagine what safety looks like beyond state systems, this panel highlighted the power of collective care, peer support, and youth-led leadership as pathways toward true freedom.

Article Spotlight: ā€˜Donā€™t Say We Didnā€™t Tell Youā€™

In a new Proximate piece written by G4GCā€™s Maheen Kaleem alongside Jody Myrum and Laura V., we explore how youth-led movements across the Global Majority are reimagining democracy from the ground up. ā€œYouth are not waiting for seats at broken tables ā€“ they are building their own.ā€ 

Across the globe, human rights are being stripped away amid the rise of fascist regimes, intensified surveillance, and coordinated attacks on women, girls, LGBTQI+, migrant, and refugee communities. Yet, amid this repression, some of the most courageous and visionary resistance is emerging, led by girls, queer youth, feminists, Indigenous peoples, and caste-oppressed communities who are not only surviving and resisting but actively building democratic, liberated futures. The article calls on philanthropy to fund resilient, autonomous, and agile infrastructures, supporting youth-led and intergenerational organizing so movements can thrive for generations to come. Dear G4GC Community,

As we soon close out this transformative year, we’re filled with gratitude for the fierce, brilliant youth leaders who continue to show us what liberation looks like in action. At G4GC, we believe the path forward is paved by those who are positively impacting our future – girls and gender-expansive youth of color whose wisdom lights the way. 

This year, we’ve witnessed this truth again and again: in the organizing spaces we’ve supported, in the philanthropic gatherings weā€™ve attended, and through the internal evolution of our own organization. For nearly five years, G4GC has been a consistent and leading voice on the urgency of investing in organizations and movements that center the wisdom and well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth of color. 

Since 2020, we have granted more than $28 million to 400+ organizations nationwide. We have mobilized millions more to organizations that center the wisdom and well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth of color through funding collectives, advising, and donor mobilizing. We did this with care, and with partnerships that expanded our communities and capacities to facilitate transformative change across the nation. 

In everything we do, our North Star is to center the wisdom and well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth of color in the U.S. and beyond. In these challenging times, when everything is up for revision, G4GC has implemented some internal changes to strengthen our organization and ensure our sustainability as a philanthropic intermediary, sothat we can live more deeply and fully into our role in this ecosystem. We are deeply grateful for each individual who has contributed to our evolution. 

Here is what is not up for revision – our commitment to mobilizing resources that support movements and organizations that center the wisdom and well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth of color. Our work will continue to grow, and each of our funds will remain intact. 

In 2026, weā€™re launching the Catalytic Futures Fund ā€“ the outcome of the Future Economy Lab with SecondMuse Capital that we began four years ago. Our commitment to research-based efforts to perform our function as a philanthropic intermediary at the highest quality will also continue. Young people will remain our guides and at the center of our operationalization of our theory of impact, reciprocity as praxis.

G4GC is not only still here ā€“ we are moving into a position of strength for the next five years and beyond. As we move forward, we will continue to keep you updated about key milestones, progress and impact.

To this end, we invite funders and philanthropic leaders to join us next May in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a powerful in-person gathering rooted in intergenerational wisdom and collective action. This is more than a conference: it’s a homecoming, a space where we strategize how to best support and center youth leadership that continues to transform our communities. Transformationā€™s Liberation Camp šŸ•

This past month Tran Ton Nu, G4GC’s Digital Strategist attended Liberation Camp, hosted by Transformations, a G4GC grantee partner. Liberation Camp is a weeklong event is organized exclusively for trans-BIPOC leaders. Attendees participate in leadership and skill-building workshops, intergenerational conversations, and fun outdoor activities.
